Recreation

Outdoor recreation is an integral part of the lives of all Newfoundlanders. It is also the basis for much of the Province's growing adventure tourism industry.  Our forests provide the setting for many types of outdoor activities ranging from sightseeing, berry picking, cross country skiing, and wilderness hiking, to hunting, fishing and white water canoeing.  Company roads provide access to all these activities and more.

Main River which flows through our timber lands on the Northern Peninsula, is one of Canada's most majestic wild rivers.  Before harvesting operations began in the areas along the river, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper conducted an Environmental Impact Assessment of proposed operations in the area.  Through this process the company identified a wilderness reserve along the full length of the river.  Main River has recently been approved as part of the Canadian Heritage Rivers systems.
