Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is committed to growing our investment in Western Newfoundland.  We are aware of the discussion about the future of our forests and the pulp and paper industry in our region.  We'd like to join that discussion.

We're proud of our mill and its award winning record.  Our success is due in large part to our 700 employees, working from the forest to the finished product.

We're proud of our contribution to the region's social and economic development.  Our employees live and work in 40-50 communities. Last year we spent $153 million on goods and services in Newfoundland, including $50 million in direct wages.  These numbers will grow over the long term.

We are proud of our commitment to stay at the leading edge of the industry, having spent more than $500 million on improvements to our Corner Brook operations since 1984.  We consider new technology, such as mechanical harvesting equipment, an investment in the future of Newfoundland.  Mechanical harvesting provides a fresh supply of wood year round, enhancing paper quality.  This allows us to be competitive in the toughest newsprint market in the world.

We are proud of our environmental record.  New mechanical equipment used in our shortwood and cable harvesting systems have a "soft footprint" and are less intrusive to the environment.

We plan to continue our efforts with pride and confidence in Western Newfoundland.
